In early 2006, SDRN produced a report for the Environmental Research Funders Forum (ERFF) on research needs to support the implementation of the UK Sustainable Development Strategy.

The report, entitled 'Securing the Future: The Role of Research. Interdisciplinary, Cross-cutting and Strategic Research Needs to Support the UK Sustainable Development Strategy', was considered by the ERFF and a number of the report's recommendations have already been acted upon.
