Heriot-Watt University: Teaching Fellow in Renewable Energy (Edinburgh)

One of the main teaching and research strengths at Heriot-Watt University (HWU) is in the area of renewable energy.  The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences is seeking to employ a teaching fellow to cover for a sabbatical period being taken by another member of staff.

The teaching fellow will be required to both develop and deliver teaching material to postgraduate students undertaking several different MSc degrees in i) Renewable Energy Engineering; ii) Energy; and iii) Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation.  The specific courses to be delivered include topics within the areas of renewable energy, demand management, and energy storage.

You will have:

  • completed either a MSc or PhD in engineering (or another appropriate area) and ideally possess relevant teaching and/or research experience in the area of energy

  • experience in teaching postgraduate university students

  • excellent written and oral communication skills

  • the ability to supervise MSc student projects.


Ideally, the successful applicant will be able to start in September 2012.  The period of employment will be for a fixed period of 12 months full-time.
